Little Leaders: Visionary Women Around The World

In a change to previous podcasts, this book is a non-fiction book.
Written by Vashti Harrison, "Little Leaders: Visionary Women Around the World" chronicles in short biographies the lives of many pivotal women in various spheres. But in many cases, because they were women or of colour or both, their legacies were overlooked. These names were then lost to the general consciousness and would never get the recognition they deserved. Many of the names that come up will be new to many but their influence and worldwide reach may amaze you!

SPYWATCH

The next book I'm reading is the Look and Read book "Spywatch", a BBC School series that originally aired in 1996. It starred Lesley Joseph as Miss Millington, a young Russell Tovey as Dennis and Keith Barron as the older version of Norman, who was the focus of the modern day educational inserts. Access to episodes from almost the whole Look and Read canon can be found at  https://www.youtube.com/c/lookandreadtv and you can find out further information about the shows by following their twitter account at https://twitter.com/LookandReadTV

This time I am tackling the novel version rather than the abridged pupil book version.
This means the chapters are much longer, up to 20 mins a chapter.

A Visit from St.Nicholas

Concluding this run of festive tales, I read the iconic Christmas poem, "A Visit from St. Nicholas" better known to many as "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clarke Moore.

I'll be back in the new year with an interesting non-fiction text to return with - so watch this space !

Mr Christmas

Continuing the festive tales, I read  the more upbeat (and frankly lesser known) tale of Mr Christmas, one of the many Little Miss and Mr Men Characters created by the Hargreaves family

On Christmas Eve I will be sharing with you "A Visit from St. Nicholas" A.K.A "Twas the Night Before Christmas" a poem by Clement Clarke Moore

The Little Match Girl

Continuing the festive tales, I read the rather sad tale of "The Little Match Girl" by Hans Christian Andersen. During these modern times it is important to remember that little things really matter including the memories of those no longer with us. There are some things that money can't buy...

Next time, I'll reading Roger Hargreaves "Mr Christmas"

Gift of the Magi

In the first of a number of festive tales, I start of with O. Henry's poignant tale about the sacrifices of Christmas in "Gift of the Magi". At this time of year it is very easy to put the wants and needs of others first.

Next time, I'll reading "The Little Match Girl" by Hans Christian Andersen.
